Edgar Tafel, an architect who was among the best known of Frank Lloyd Wright’s apprentices died last month at the age of 98. Tafel is reportedly the last surviving member of the original Taliesin Fellowship, which convened in 1932. Read the New York Times obituary HERE.
San Diego’s Sim Bruce Richards studied under Wright alongside Tafel and remained close to him until his death 1983. Learn more about Wright’s apprentices’ work in San Diego HERE.

Professor Can Bilsel, Chair of the Department of Art, Architecture + Art History at the University of San Diego, will present Karl Friedrich Schinkel and the Origins of the Berlin Museum to Friends of San Diego Architecture on Saturday, February 19th at 9:30 AM. Bilsel received the Aga Khan Fellowship at Harvard and MIT, the Whiting Fellowship in the Humanities and was a Fellow at the Getty Research Institute, Los Angeles. The program will be held at NewSchool of Architecture & Design, 1249 F St., Downtown San Diego. A coffee break and discussion will follow. For more information go HERE.
