Gifford Construction’s 'The Futurecraft Home' designed by Frank L. Hope & Associates in partnership with Chambers Steel Co. has been noted as San Diego's first steel house.

This, the first light-steel house constructed in San Diego County, was published in San Diego & Point Magazine in March 1959. The home, located at 4196 Eastridge Drive in La Mesa, was held open to the public and garnered significant press attention and praise from its visitors.
