Larry Hunter

As a successor to John Dirks’ furniture design legacy at San Diego State College, Larry Hunter’s ‘sculpturally expressive’ designs of the 1960s-70s affirmed the import of the university’s progressive faculty. Hunter's former student, Wendy Maruyama inherited the furniture design program at State and pushed it to even greater heights.

Serving as Professor of Art at San Diego State University between 1963-1989, Hunter ran the furniture design program at San Diego State during the late ’60s and ’70s.
