Robert Glen Edwards

Architect | 1922-2007

Robert Edwards was a partner with James Weber in the Pacific Beach firm Weber & Edwards.

Robert Edwards was born in Amherst, Ohio on June 14, 1922. After attending Bowling Green State University (between 1940-1942) he served in the Air Force as First Lieutenant (1942-45). According to his obituary, he flew 35 missions over France and Germany during World War II and received the European Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and Distinguished Flying Cross.

Edwards secured his B.Arch from Ohio State University in 1949. He launched Robert G. Edwards & Associates (1960-63) before joining as a partner with James Weber in Weber & Edwards (1963-68) before it transitioned to Weber, Edwards & Young (1968-69). By 1970 he was working as Edwards & Young Architects Inc. at 4455 Lamont Street in Pacific Beach, Edwards was living at 1542 El Paso Real in La Jolla. He joined the AIA San Diego Chapter in 1961 and served on the organizations Mem. Building Code Committee (1965-67) and its Chairman (1965-66). As a local business owner, Edwards also volunteered as Chairman of the Mission & Pacific Beach Community Planning Committee. Edwards died on September 28, 2007, in Alabama.
