Residence for Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ayers was designed in 1963 by Gene Pedersen. Completed in 1964 this home was Job #140 for Pedersen’s Professional Planning Corp located at 8047 La Mesa Blvd. Prior to establishing his design-build company, Pedersen focused on single family residences in La Mesa and El Cajon, Mr. Pedersen served in World War II, followed by studies at University of Illinois. He then moved to California to study architecture at USC. He was drawn to San Diego when he secured a job building one of the first housing tracts in Chula Vista in 1954. The young building designer worked from his La Mesa office through the 1960s before moving to La Jolla and his son joining the family business of designing and building single-family homes.
